I have always loved the timelessness of black and white images. And the more I play with editing in black and white, the more I fall in love with it. In the past, I have relied on a couple of favorite LR presets for black and white conversions. One Willow has some beauties. I also really like some of the PS actions from Paint the Moon, like Grace and Ivy.
But lately I have just been doing manual adjustments in the tone curves and basic panels and using dodging and burning brushes.
I love the result. Here are a few images that I took this week and converted that way.
What's your favorite way to process black and whites?
Do you adore them like I do, or do you favor color images?

Thanks for visiting today!
Like you, I adore b/w shots. There is just something so magical about them, and I also adore shots from behind like you show here. LOVE those!
Pictures of kids holding hands are the best!!
That second photo is perfect! I really like One Willows b/w presets. I almost never do a black and white conversion on my own, but if I do I usually use the gradient map.
Adorable!
I adore the second shot! I love black and white. I have never had much luck with b&w actions though. I adjust the curves and levels to get the effect I want.
These shots are timeless! I love B&W, have used actions and presets that I then adjust. Your conversions are wonderful - keep up the good work!
I love black and whites! your pictures are beautiful!
I have to say, I'm a color fan for the most part. But I do love to see things in black and white also. These are just lovely.
I seriously can't get enough of these shots. They would look great as a canvas series along the wall.
