Greetings friends! I'm a little late to the party today. We're visiting with family and and enjoying a beautiful warm "Spring" day. My email box is overflowing, the dog is giving me the puppy eyes as she wants a walk, and I've got to bake a birthday cake before the baby wakes. So, I'll keep this short and sweet ;)
My question for today is: Where is one place in the U.S. that you've never been but would love to visit?
For me, it's California. I've never been that far west, but would love to visit my Aunt and Uncle there and see San Francisco, L.A., Napa Valley and San Diego. How about you?
Thanks for coming by! Be sure to stop by An Island Life for more Aloha Friday fun.

Aloha Friday
Friday, February 18, 2011
It's that time again. Aloha! Looking forward to a gorgeous, sunny day with temps in the 70's here. Woo hoo! A taste of Spring ;)
I'm a sucker for nostalgia and love all those flashbacks to the 80's that remind me of my childhood. Have you seen this? It's like a virtual time machine. I could waste way too much time there, but it's fun to take a little trip down memory lane.
My question today is: What is something (a product, band, cartoon, movie, etc.) that you loved growing up?

Sweet And Easy Heart Cookie Recipe for Valentine's Day
Saturday, February 12, 2011
These little bite-sized cookies are so cute and easy to make. Perfect for a little treat box or bag.
Ingredients:
4 TBSP butter, softened
1/4 C powdered sugar
1/4 tsp red food coloring
1 1/2 tsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup sifted all purpose flour
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Put butter in a medium mixing bowl and stir until creamy. Sift in powdered sugar and stir well. Add red food coloring and mix well. Add milk and vanilla and mix. Sift flour into bowl and mix well. Squeeze mixture into a ball with your hands. Dust a rolling pin with flour and flour a work surface. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick. Use small cutters to create heart shapes. Use a toothpick to add patterns as you wish.
Transfer to baking sheets and bake for 6-8 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool on pans 1-2 minutes then transfer to cooling rack. Once cooled completely cookies can be sprinkled with sifted powder sugar if desired.
Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
Aloha Friday

Greetings friends and happy Friday! I'm so glad the weekend is here, and we have no sports games this weekend so I hope to steal a little time to relax. We had more snow this week, unusual for here, but warmer weather is in store for the weekend. Possibly as warm as 60. Woo hoo! I'm yearning for flip flops and barbeques. Who's with me?
Ok, on to my question for today: What talent are you developing? If none, what's stopping you?
A friend of mine recently picked up some paper and charcoal and started drawing. She's never done this, but her drawings are amazing! Really. This got me thinking about how we all have God given talents that we sometimes ignore because we are too busy, too broke, too caught up in the day to day shuffle, etc. But developing our talents feeds our minds and souls and can also help others. Don't we have some responsibility to do this, even if for just a small amount of our time each week? What do you think?

Are You Ready For Some Football?!
Sunday, February 6, 2011
As per my step-father, who is diehard Pittsburgh fan (and former resident), I've been instructed to root for the Steelers. While I have been known to enjoy a Superbowl party in years past, this year it'll just be me and the kiddos at home. So, we may tune in to Fox to catch some of the game, but our tube will be mostly fixed on The Puppy Bowl. What's your plan for the big game?
OUR MVP
Here are some favorite football quotes to get you geared up for a great game:
Football is, after all, a wonderful way to get rid of your aggressions without going to jail for it. ~Heywood Hale Brown
Academe, n.: An ancient school where morality and philosophy were taught. Academy, n.: [from academe] A modern school where football is taught. ~Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary
Most football players are temperamental. That's 90 percent temper and 10 percent mental. ~Doug Plank
Let's face it, you have to have a slightly recessive gene that has a little something to do with the brain to go out on the football field and beat your head against other human beings on a daily basis. ~Tim Green
You have to play this game like somebody just hit your mother with a two-by-four. ~Dan Birdwell
Football combines the two worst things about America: it is violence punctuated by committee meetings. ~George F. Will
Pro football is like nuclear warfare. There are no winners, only survivors. ~Frank Gifford
One of the great disappointments of a football game is that the cheerleaders never seem to get injured. ~Author Unknown
American football makes rugby look like a Tupperware party. ~Sue Lawley, 1985
Football is not a contact sport. It's a collision sport. Dancing is a good example of a contact sport. ~Duffy Daugherty
