Ultimate Blog Party 2010
I'm so excited about the upcoming Ultimate Blog Party hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom. I participated last year and met tons of new bloggy friends. So, what's the UBP all about? Making new connections, promoting your blog and winning great prizes. It's just about the biggest affair in the momosphere!

Serendipity is Sweet is proud to sponsor one of the prizes again this year. I'll be giving away a set of children's DVD's from Little Leaders.

The prize includes a set of two multi-language format children's DVD's (includes American Sign Language) from Little Leaders:

Little Noah introduces kids to amazing animals and offers English, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese and American Sign Language

Little Moses teaches counting to ten in English, Spanish, Italian, Danish and American Sign Language

Little Leaders offers fun and wholesome entertainment for kids ages 9 months and up. The coolest thing about these DVDs is that they are multi-language format, which means that you can select which language you want to learn each time you play them. So, you can watch it once and learn American Sign Language, then watch it later and learn Spanish! How cool is that?!

Be sure to visit The Ultimate Blog Party '10's page at 5 Minutes for Mom for more info about prizes and how to win! The party starts on April 9th. Don't miss out on all the fun!

Quotable Sunday - Babies

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Happy QS friends! Today my quotes focus on babies. I had my ultrasound on Friday and got the good news that everything seems to be developing as it should :) And....it's a girl! We're all very excited. Well, that is, except for my oldest son, who said: "Aw man! Not another girl!"

It sometimes happens, even in the best of families, that a baby is born. This is not necessarily cause for alarm. The important thing is to keep your wits about you and borrow some money. ~Elinor Goulding Smith

A baby is an angel whose wings decrease as his legs increase. ~Author Unknown

Babies are always more trouble than you thought - and more wonderful. ~Charles Osgood

Families with babies and families without babies are sorry for each other. ~Ed Howe

People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one. ~Leo J. Burke

Babies are such a nice way to start people. ~Don Herrold

Every baby needs a lap. ~Henry Robin

When babies look beyond you and giggle, maybe they're seeing angels. ~Quoted in The Angels' Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman, 1994

A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on. ~Carl Sandburg

So, my question today is: What are your favorite boy and girl names? Oh yes, I know there are zillions of options, just throw out something you like :) We're on baby #4 here and have two boys and a girl. I haven't come up with any names I'm in love with yet, so I could use some inspiration.

How To Train Your Dragon - Opens March 26th in Theaters

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Have you seen the trailer? Are you planning to see the movie? I don't get out the the theater often, but I've been looking forward to this movie. It looks like great family fun. The kind of movie that Mom and Dad can enjoy along with the kids. Select cities are planning special screenings for Moms this Friday!

Here's more info about the story, from the studio:
"From the studio that brought you ``Shrek, ``Madagascar and ``Kung Fu Panda comes ``How to Train Your Dragon-an adventure comedy set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild fire-breathing dragons, based on the book by Cressida Cowell. The story centers around a Viking teenager named Hiccup (JAY BARUCHEL), who lives on the Island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. The teen's rather progressive views and offbeat sense of humor don't sit too well with his tribe or its chief...who just happens to be Hiccup's father, Stoick the Vast (GERARD BUTLER). When Hiccup is included in Dragon Training with the other Viking teens-Astrid (AMERICA FERRERA), Snotlout (JONAH HILL), Fishlegs (CHRISTOPHER MINTZ-PLASSE), and twins Ruffnut (KRISTEN WIIG) and Tuffnut (T.J. MILLER)-he sees his chance to prove he has what it takes to be a fighter. But when he encounters (and ultimately befriends) an injured dragon, his world is flipped upside down, and what started out as Hiccup's one shot to prove himself turns into an opportunity to set a new course for the future of the entire tribe."

I Can't Believe I Won!

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Do you enter blog giveaways? There are about a zillion out there at any given time. Some get thousands of entries and some get just a few. Your odds of winning are much better than you might think, and it only takes a minute or two to enter. I used to enter a lot of giveaways then for a while I stopped entering at all.

That is until recently, when I entered a giveaway I saw in an email alert from MomFuse. It was for a couple of prizes from Atari (remember those?!), Target and General Mills. Boy am I glad I did! Not only did I win a prize, but I won the grand prize - an Atari Flashback 2, several retro boxes of General Mills cereal, a T-Shirt and a Target gift card! Woo hoo!! I couldn't believe it when the box showed up at my door. As you can see, the kids were pretty excited too!

So, the point of this post is not to gloat...no, no, but to encourage you to enter a giveaway now and then. People really do win! And, to let you know that there are still chances win a prize like mine. You can enter the Great Game Giveaway here for a chance at one of 200 Atari Flashback 2 game systems and 100 Atari prize packs!

Thanks MomFuse, Target and General Mills!

What a man needs in gardening is a cast-iron back, with a hinge in it. ~Charles Dudley Warner, My Summer in a Garden, 1871

There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling. ~Mirabel Osler

The greatest gift of the garden is the restoration of the five senses. ~Hanna Rion

It is good to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought. ~James Douglas, Down Shoe Lane

Unemployment is capitalism's way of getting you to plant a garden. ~Orson Scott Card

Gardening is about enjoying the smell of things growing in the soil, getting dirty without feeling guilty, and generally taking the time to soak up a little peace and serenity. ~Lindley Karstens, noproblemgarden.com

Green fingers are the extension of a verdant heart. ~Russell Page

Are you planning a garden this season? We've just begun getting our yard ready for Spring and have planned a vegetable garden. Last year we had some luck with our tomatoes, carrots, cukes, peppers and herbs but we're novices. This year we're moving the garden to a new location and plan to expand. Fingers crossed that we'll have a bountiful harvest.

Do you plant a garden? It's such a fun learning project for kids...and a great wey to get them to eat their veggies! Here's a post I wrote on composting if you are interested. We found composting to be a simple, easy way to add rich nutrients to the soil and great flavor to our tomatoes.

Friday Photo Flashback

Friday, March 19, 2010

I'm late to the party, but I wanted to join in anyway. The other day we drug out the Easter decorations from the attic and dusted them off for this year. We found the pink fuzzy bunny ears and my daughter has been wearing them since. I found this pic of her in them when she was about 9 months old. It's always been a favorite of mine and I post it on the fridge each spring.

For more Friday Photo Flashback visit Alicia at More Than Words. She has an amazing collection of old photos and it's fun to bloghop and reminisce with everyone over years past.
