We've Had A Visitor At Our Place

Yesterday, I woke up and made my Starbucks, as usual, but when I looked out the window, what to my wondering eyes should appear? A Great Blue Heron! Right in our back yard. If you read my blue crab post, you'll know that we live not far from the Elizabeth River, so we have seen them before. But, never in our own back yard. And never have we had such an up close and personal encounter. He was just hanging out back there. Cool as a cucumber. We watched him for a long while before he eventually flew off.
When I woke up this morning, he was back. I think he likes us :D And I have to say, he has brought a little more enjoyment to my morning rituals. I hope he keeps stopping by.
If you are interested in learning more about Blue Herons look here or here.
Wonderful. I have never seen one before. Really neat to have one in your yard. Cool:O)
What a cutie! My kids love to watch the birds around here. Beautiful picture. TFS
How cool! We've recently become the home to a couple of cardinals and my kids just think they are great! I can't imagine what they'd think if they had something like a blue heron in the back yard!
My 13 year old is big into bird watching right now. He would've gone nuts!! We've only had the most common yard birds around our feeder this year. Great find!!
That is so cool. Science just flew right in to your yard.
That is so cool!
We have two bird feeders on our tree in the front yard, so it's always fun to see what kinds of birds land on there!
I think he likes you too. What a nice little surprise.
Wow, we don't get those kind of birds around here. Our daily visitor is a bunny.
I am snaggin' your button:)
interesting...
