Quotable Sunday

Sunday, April 26, 2009

Welcome to this edition of Quotable Sunday. Since we have spent the better part of the last several days enjoying the glorious weather outside, gardening, walking, and playing, I decided this weekend's quotes should be about nature. I hope you have had a beautiful weekend! Enjoy.

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."
Anais Nin

"And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything."
William Shakespeare

"Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher."
William Wordsworth

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books."
John Lubbock

"Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature."

Gerard De Nerval

"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul."

John Muir

"Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair."
Kahlil Gibran

"Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads."
Henry David Thoreau

"I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty."

Georgia O'Keeffe

"I did not become a vegetarian for my health, I did it for the health of the chickens."

Isaac Bashevis Singer

Oh now I love nature. We have had rain the past two days. But I did enjoy 80 degree weather this week. Happy Sunday.

All of your quotes are fantastically beautiful. My favourite (and it was not easy to chose) would be:
"I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty."
Georgia O'Keeffe

These are great quotes I'm getting excited for spring - we haven't had the greatest weather this weekend but we did get a spot of sun earlier and it made me long for summer!
